Whitewright Population Grows to 1667 in 1970 Census
Emory Christian, crew chief for the local census operation, reports Whitewright’s 1970 population at 1667, up from 1315 in 1960. Grayson County totals rise 10.7 percent to 80847, from 73043 in 1960. Blanche Martin of Greenville supervised the district census takers. The Census Bureau will release official figures for all areas this fall.

Grayson County Court Approves Uniforms and Bids for Pickups
The Grayson County Commissioners Court met in session Tuesday and ordered uniforms for the county cook and advertising for bids to purchase one pickup for precincts 2 and 4. Bids open June 9. The court also approved the plat of the Harlan Hensley South Mayd Addition.
