About 15 nearby districts discussed joining Bonham Independent School District. Superintendent J B Golden said annexation would not leave Bonham alone and would allow Ravenna to keep its elementary school if desired. The enlarged district would likely set a tax rate around 1.35 per 100 valuation, with representation on the board and equalization panel.
Cummings said annexation requires an election if area exceeds 100 square miles and only nine districts can join an independent district. About 25 percent of elementary and high school students live outside Bonham district, rising to 40 percent in the high school. A six foot alligator was trapped in a Willis area field about a mile from Lake Texoma and exhibited in Kingston Oklahoma. Jimmy Page a school bus driver lassoed the reptile and delivered it to town before moving it to the Oklahoma City zoo. The origin of the alligator remains unknown.
