On Tuesday May 16 at White Wright Grade School a visitation day for six year olds entering school next year will be held. Principal Herman Bedford says mothers may discuss entrance requirements with teachers and staff. Lunches will be available for families. First grade pupils will not attend.
Monday offers cheese or peanut butter sandwiches with lettuce tomato salad peach halves and milk. Tuesday features steak and gravy potatoes peas tomato bread butter honey and milk. Wednesday serves Coney Island with chili sauce pickles onions gingerbread with apple sauce and milk. Thursday roast turkey with dressing cranberry sauce peas bread butter pineapple salad and milk. Friday navy beans candied yams green onions radishes cornbread butter fruit jello and milk.

Washington. The Agriculture Department raised the question of whether Americans eat too much. It said this year’s average daily calories per person may reach 3,250, about ten calories more than last year. It noted varying needs by age, sex, and activity and suggested the level might be higher than necessary when considering children and women.
The Book Club rereads South Pacific after a rainout. Pat Tobin of Austin College will present an entertaining review of the Pulitzer prize winning Broadway play. Admission is free for members, 50 cents for visitors, 25 cents for students. The meeting is at Craig's Cafe dining room next Monday at 8 p.m.
