Dalton gang gunfight remembered in Coffeyville

John J. Kloehr, famed for killing three Dalton gang members in 1892, died at his Coffeyville home. The report also notes a gas extension project by Community Gas Co to Whitewright, with plans to serve Westminster, Van Alstyne and Anna and guidance for local purchases ahead of gas service rollout.

Memorial Program For Noted Composer

Pupils of Mrs. G F Bryant present a centennial Beethoven program Saturday March 26 at 3 pm in the Grammar School. The program lists Turkish March from The Ruins of Athens performed by Dorothy Gordon and several Beethoven works including Bagatelle in A Minor Andante Don Moto and Sonata Pathétique Op 13 performed by the Bryant pupils and teachers.

Mrs Addie Barbee Rites Held in Whitewright

Mrs. Addie Barbee wife of the late J C Barbee died after a brief illness at her East Whitewright home Sunday afternoon. Funeral from the Presbyterian Church Monday at 2:30 conducted by Dr J F Fender and Rev W A Kirkpatrick. She was born November 22 1842 at Fort Jessup Louisiana. The Barbee family settled near Whitewright after marriage in 1868 and Mr Barbee died in 1892. Surviving are sons Tom Will and Jones Barbee of Whitewright with thirteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Pallbearers were six grandsons.

Ladonia Joyfully Accepts Gas Proposal After Sign-Up Surge

Frank Reece, ex Sherman police chief and sheriff candidate, appointed county highway officer by the commissioners. He will ensure county autos have 1927 plates, two plates, proper lights, dimmed spotlights, record transfers, no cutouts, repaired exhausts, and speed limits of 35 mph on roads and 20 mph in cities. He will prosecute ditch plowing and dumping rubbish, enforce load limits on motor trucks, and urge public cooperation for safe highways.

Moody to Sign Amnesty Repeal Bill in Texas

Fruit crop unscathed by freezing temperatures in Grayson County

The weekend freeze caused no appreciable damage to local fruit crops as Grayson County recorded a low of 31 degrees. Nurserymen say this is not cold enough to harm fruit. Last, a treasure in Whitewright. Watch for further notice.
