Arkansas Claims All North Texas Oil Field

Arkansas seeks United States Supreme Court permission to intervene in the Texas-Oklahoma boundary suit and claims title to a Texas region including the Red River bed and 56 counties north of the 32nd parallel. The area covers virtually all North Texas oil territory and major Dallas-Fort Worth financial centers. The proposed slice includes counties along the Louisiana line up to the 32nd parallel and extends across numerous listed counties toward Wood, Foard, and Hardeman.

Sherman March 14. The Grayson county tax collector reports 19,256 qualified voters with 1,433 exemptions due to age or first time certificates. Women are noted as prompt payers when combined with husbands, but slow to pay poll tax on their own.

Chicago report dated March 13 states four year old Joseph Suski died from internal scalds after drinking coffee from a boiling pot’s spout. He reached the pot by pulling a chair to the stove and swallowed several mouthfuls before collapsing. A doctor arrived too late.

Mrs. Fannie Rebecca Johnson wife of R L Johnson of this city died at the family home on South Bend street at 10 25 PM Wednesday night March 15 1922 She would have reached her forty fourth birthday May 12 She is survived by her husband and two children Mary and Joe Funeral services were held at the home this afternoon at 3 conducted by Rev G M McNeilly and Rev J F Fender Interment followed at Oak Hill Cemetery The illness stretched over many months with the family and neighbors giving tireless care The Sun will publish a fuller tribute in its next issue

Fort Worth reports a triple funeral for Cornelia, Frances, and Martha Caylor, ages 10, killed in a grade crossing crash when a T P passenger train struck their automobile. Seventy Year Old Man Fined For Kiss Theft

In Palo Pinto County Judge E L Pitts fined C S Maddux of Santo fifty dollars and sentenced him to thirty days in jail after a guilty plea to assault. The nearly 70-year-old man allegedly slipped up from behind a milliner widow, embraced her, and planted a kiss on her cheek. He pleaded guilty and remains jailed.

Negro Surrenders After Ghost Says He Killed Man

In New Orleans on March 13 Sam Spivey a 23 year old Black man claimed haunted by the ghost of Monk Gibson killed in Houston five years ago. He surrendered to police saying he killed Gibson in a craps game in self defense.
