Wallace Caraway was seriously injured while loading cattle near his Desert Community home Sunday morning when a truck rolled back, pinning him between the vehicle and a barn. He suffered two broken arms a fractured collarbone with one arm broken in three places and was taken to Community Hospital in Sherman for treatment.

Funeral services for Mrs. Thomas Stroud 75 were held at Earnheart chapel with Rev. Earl Prince Rev. Houston Garner and Rev. Dale Gore officiating. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Survived by son Henry J. Stroud and daughters Mrs Helen Badgett and Mrs Loretta Drake, two brothers, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Whitewright native Tom Lively, founder of a Dallas building firm that became Centex Corp, drowned Sunday night at Lake Garza Little Elm. Skindivers recovered his body after he disappeared near his boat. Born in Whitewright 45 years ago, he was survived by his wife and two sons. Funeral and burial were held in Dallas.
The Little Rock Home Demonstration Club met Tuesday afternoon at Mrs. H G Vandagriff's home with eight members and two guests. The group voted to disband until September and conducted a brief business session led by acting president Mrs. Bill Ire land. Demonstrations featured summer girls dresses and a Home Ec project while door prizes and refreshments were shared.
The Methodist Women’s Society of Christian Service met Monday at Mrs. Kenneth Frisby’s home with 10 members. President Mrs. James Bryant led a short business session and an officers’ training. Miss Darleen Compton of Whitewright and Bill Fletcher of Sherman exchanged vows Friday night at Durant Okla. They were attended by their parents. The bride is the daughter of Mr and Mrs David Compton of Whitewright. They will settle in Michigan.
Cairo report quotes Rose El Youssef that communist guerillas in South Vietnam use bee hives planted under trees to unleash swarms on approaching American forces. The Viet Cong delegation in Cairo allegedly described the tactic as lethal.

Cong. Ray Roberts of Mc Kinney is named to the Hall of Honor by the East Texas Delegation of the Texas Legislature. He receives a certificate and honorary lifetime membership for outstanding service to Texas during two Senate terms. He also served on the East Texas Delegation.
Whitewright amassed 16 hits and two errors to defeat Howe 20 13 at Howe. Cureton and Caraway pitched for Whitewright with Cureton fanning six and Caraway eight. Leading Whitewright hitters included Edwin Caraway 5 6 Bill Montgomery 2 4 and David Wilson 4 6. Howe's top batters included Donald Bonner 2 4 and Jim Watson 2 3 with two extra base hits.
