Cash Basis For State Is Seen by Cowell
Austin June 7 The State of Texas should remain on a cash basis for the next two fiscal years starting Sept 1 in the view of State Board of Control chairman S B Cowell. He said the state’s finances are strong despite a previous deficit cited from a 38th Legislature appropriation. Revenue now expected near 40 million to 41 million could leave a healthy treasury balance, potentially around 3 million, not counting a proposed Kerrville American Legion Hospital sale worth about 1.4 million to go to general revenue.
