Grayson College and Savoy College reunions will share June 13 this year causing conflict for attendees many of whom have ties to both schools. Rev. W. W. Alverson notes he must choose as Savoy holds events on the second Sunday in June and Grayson adjusts to the new date.
Legionnaires from 94 posts across four districts gather in Sherman for the First Division Convention at the new 50 000 American Legion home Post 29. State Commander L E Page will lead memorial services, with speakers including Albert D Brown Jr L L Criswell and Tom Saling. about 350 attendees expected.
President Eisenhower declared the administration quietly and relentlessly hunts Communists every day of the year. He listed a 16 month record of cracking down on Reds and subversive groups and refused to discuss McCarthy or the Army McCarthy hearings.
The White House asked Congress for an extra defense appropriation of 1.1 billion dollars for military construction. About 503 thousand dollars would fund Army communications sites in Alaska. The package also covers Nike missile sites and troop housing.

She formerly taught music at Grayson College as Ivy York and was sister to Mrs. J N Fain of Sherman and Mrs. W A Fain of McKinney. Local attendees from Whitewright included Manton Fain and daughter Elaine with Mrs. J L Kirkpatrick and Mrs. J N Fain of Sherman.
A B Pruitt 64 brother of Mrs Tom Brown of Whitewright died at his home near Wilson last Thursday. Funeral services were held at Slaton Saturday with burial in Englewood Cemetery at Slaton. He lived in this community years ago and for 34 years lived in the Gordon community near Wilson. Survived by wife a son Lin ton Pruitt Sinton two daughters Mrs Dick Benton Post Mrs Homer Jones Wellman three sisters Mrs Tom Brown Whitewright Mrs Jesse James Bonham and Mrs Cora Williams Trenton two brothers Milton Pruitt Madill Okla and Sam Pruitt Durant Okla seven grandchildren
Funeral services were held at 2 30 p m last Thursday in Tom Bean Church of Christ for Viola Grammer 92 who died after five months illness Burial followed in Holloway Cemetery She was a Miller County Missouri native daughter of S J Whitewell and the late Mr and Mrs Whitewell Widow of N R Grammer Survivors include four sons a daughter a sister a brother 16 grandchildren 32 great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren
