Whitewright High School graduation honors 1972 seniors
Thirty seniors received diplomas at Whitewright High School commencement in the First United Methodist Church. Valedictorian Mike Spann and salutatorian Jane Biggerstaff led a program featuring scholarships from local banks clubs and organizations. Speakers included Rev Bill Rogan and S T Montgomery with diplomas presented by Bill Dyer.

Bartley Yard Wins May Yard of the Month Honor
The Yard of the Month program jointly run by the Chamber of Commerce and the Friday Literary Club named Mr. and Mrs. Weldon Bartley’s yard as May’s best. The display features a fertilized green lawn, blooming roses marigolds and gardenias, red cannas, and miniature shrubs.

Centenarian James Creecy Celebrates 100th Birthday
James Creecy marked his 100th birthday on May 27 with an open house at Firemen's Hall hosted by his children in Jacksonville Hale Center and Whitewright. About 60 guests attended as a three tier cake and a poem by Rosa Lee Somerville highlighted the celebration. He has been a deacon for 26 years at First Baptist Church and a lifelong farmer born in 1872 in Tennessee.
