Law controls TV emissions from color sets
The Radia tion Control for Health and Safety Act enacted by Congress in 1968 authorizes HEW to set health and safety standards for radiation emitting devices. A technical committee will review color TV, laser, and microwave devices before implementation. Some older sets may lack shielding or have voltage settings raised to boost brightness, increasing radiation risk.
