200 Club Reports Wellness Talk and Exhibit Win
The 200 Club met in Whitewright with 28 members as Mrs. Hugh Hunter presided. Cards of thanks were read for gifts and a quilt scrap donation. The club won first prize at a Bi-Centennial exhibit booth and a flu vaccine talk announced for a local clinic to be scheduled in the Whitewright Sun. In Canyon Tom Bean actress Linda Gail Kincade, granddaughter of Mrs. Henrietta Kincade, joins Palo Duro Canyon spectacular Texas as Nellie Mason. The show runs nightly through Aug. 21 except Sundays, featuring 78 performers and a strong Panhandle history theme.

Returning Canal to Panama Opposed by Rotary Speaker
Maj. (ret.) Charles McFatridge told Whitewright Rotary Club that the United States must not surrender the Panama Canal. He argued Panama would gain $7 billion in value and a national cash grant, while U.S. trade would suffer, and he labeled the Panamanian government a dictatorship. A Texas Mid-Continental study shows Grayson County's 1975 oil and gas output valued at 49 million dollars with payroll of 3.5 million. The county produced 5.3 million barrels of oil and 14.5 million MCF of gas, paying 2.4 million in production taxes and supporting 415 industry jobs. Drilling spent 799,470 across 21 wells with 13 oil wells result and nine wildcat drills. Three natural gas processing plants with 41.8 million cubic feet daily capacity operated locally.
