Former Governor James E. Ferguson was awarded 10000 dollars in damages by a District Court jury in Belton Texas against the Houston Post over alleged libelous material printed during the last gubernatorial race. He sought 100000 dollars in the suit.

During a Sunday thunder storm two barns were struck by lightning near Bailey. One barn at Rev. J. A. Gains's home south of Bailey burned with corn and feedstuff destroyed. A second barn belonging to Mr. Lon Tefteller east of Bailey also burned with its contents. Insurance status unknown.
A recent law took effect June 18 increasing jurors in county and district courts to 3.00 per day from 2.50. Riding bailiffs and the door bailiff on the grand jury now receive 3.00 per day, up from 2.50 and 1.50 respectively.
