The Reflector notes a remodelled Army barracks from Perrin AFB converted into a field house for football and track. About 80 chairs fit in the auditorium as visitors toured, while Exe students praised the upgrades and modern equipment. Superintendent O V Barker expressed pride in the new school plant.
Bells 4-H members toured Denis Central Fire Station led by Assistant Fire Chief H G Traweek. They viewed trucks extinguishers alarms hoses and emergency gear while learning procedures. Attendees included Kathy Liner Bonnie Price Teresa Lankford Cindy Moore Linda Alverson Mark Hudson Mike Liner and leader Mrs Janice French with guests Deb ie Moore Bridget Price Patty Moore and others. The visit supports the club safety project.
The First Baptist Church observed Baptist Men Day with laymen delivering morning and evening messages. A H Atkinson spoke on Compassion and Web don Meek on One's Greatest Desire in Life. Phyllis Shearer sang with Melva Mesk on piano.
Rev Stanley and family visited sister Rev Taft Hewitt family in Wheatley Arkansas over the weekend with mother Mrs D B Stanley. Mr and Mrs Wade Neves visited granddaughter Ruth Ann Neves at Texas University in Austin and were joined by daughter Mrs John Hibbert of Sherman. Mrs Billy White and daughter Linda from Tom Bean visited friends in Bells Sunday. Mr and Mrs Wilson Tarpley and Cannon family visited mother Leta McElle on Sunday.
The Senior Spotlight features Kaye Burleson daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Burleson. She has one sister Vicki Dodson. Kaye was active in FHA majorette drill team junior play and annual staff. Her favorites include pizza shrimp football Dan August Airport It’s Only Make Believe Tom Jones Blue Burt Reynolds Jane Fonda and she’s annoyed by people who think they are better than others.
Mr Douglas Wortham of Howe is the Whitewright High School counselor and has two colleges Southeastern and East Texas. He holds a BA and MA and is married to Marilee with three children Carla David and Scott ages 16 14 and 7. His favorites include food strawberry shortcake volleyball car Ford Cowboys sports on TV Westerns Alan Ladd Jane Russell Johnny Cash and the color blue. His pet peeve is hippies.
Tigers press and hot shooting toppled Howe 64-58 as Roy Layman scored a season high 34 with 16 rebounds. Larry Morris added 12 while Howe’s John Hill had 19 in the loss. Tigers improve to 19 wins with one game left against Fannindel.
