Whitewright Cotton Market Sees Growth and New Facilities
The Whitewright community expects about 5000 bales this season, up from last year, due to a permanent cotton yard and a bonded weigher funded by the Commercial Club and County Commissioners. Public weigher Mark Montgomery will stay on, planning improvements to handle a rising cotton flow, while assessing the market’s return to former prestige. Also mentioned is Mrs. J. J. Looney’s declining health, with visitors noted from Sherman including Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Southerland, Miss Rosetta Higginbotham, and Jack Reeves.
