Farmers have until January 31 to report Social Security taxes withheld in 1971. Ellis Cramerell Jr., District Director of Internal Revenue for North Texas, reminded that Form 943 must be used. Any farmer paying cash wages of $150 or more annually or paying wages under $150 to a worker employed 20 days or more must withhold. A farm employer includes anyone providing and paying agricultural labor, with crew leaders named as employers. The rate is 10.4 percent on the first $7,800, split between farmer and employee. Farmers must issue a W-2 to workers earning $600+ annually.
The Nobility Baptist Church presented a Sunday devotional program with special music by J.B. Thornhill and daughter Brenda Kay. Thirty five attended Sunday services. Many local residents visited patients, and several new admissions entered the nursing home this week. Sympathy extended to families of four residents who passed away last week. Bingo winners named. Rev. Dale Gore and others visited patients in the facility and nearby towns.
