Polly of the Circus will show one night only in Whitewright next Wednesday January 23 in a large seated tent. The production travels in two pullman cars with fifty performers and musicians plus horses and ponies for the street parade.
Prof. A. L. Clayton reports a barn on his farm south of Sherman burned last Saturday. About 400 bushels of corn were lost and part of the damage was covered by insurance. The cause of the fire is not known.
Fire last Friday evening in Roberts Garage workshop caused 2 to 4 thousand dollars in losses to tools, building and cars. Fire was likely sparked by gas buildup from removing grease and a blow torch thawing a frozen pipe. crews limited damage and saved most of the property. The garage will be overhauled and business to continue with minimal disruption.

Oklahoma and Denison officers captured four automobile loads of whiskey and detained five men attempting to smuggle the cargo into Oklahoma last Wednesday. The booze ladened cars were trapped as officers approached from multiple directions to intercept the run.
Mrs. Daisy Holmes Lemmon writes from Manila to sister Mrs. Pearl H. Connelly of Trenton noting she saw Miss Laura Lynn Major of Whitewright en route to Peking. Major attends a language school there to prepare for missionary work among Chinese communities.
W R Cannon of Sherman spent several days the past week with his daughter Mrs F M Echols.
Walter Hestand arrived home from Austin where he studied instructions for his new work as collector of income taxes and other government revenues. He left Sunday for Wichita Falls to be stationed there until March.
An officer in uniform arrived last Saturday to take charge of two young men arrested here by Dr. J. N. Powell for desertion. He learned the prisoners had been moved to Sherman and would be found by application at the county jail.
