In Whitewright, the Tigers boys beat Cooper 28-21 as Reid Pittman led with ten points and the girls edged the Pirates 19-15 to end Cooper's 11- game win streak. Cheryl Hicks scored eight for Whitewright and L. Clavis led Cooper with 13.
Whitewright Tigers Surge Past Pottsboro Panthers In District Play
Whitewright improved to 14-3 with a 66-34 victory over Pottsboro as Joe Ballard led scoring with 18 points and Gary Wortham added 13. The Tigers, coached by Mark Kline in his first year, used reserves in the second half after a 36-16 halftime lead. Pottsboro’s Lynn Graves topped the Panthers with 10 points. The win followed a 38-6 victory over Howe, with Ballard scoring 14. The team shoots 46 percent from the floor and 60 percent at the line, averaging 65.1 points per game while allowing 43.3 per game. Ballard averages 19.4 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. Hodge, Daniels, Wortham, and Smith contribute across the lineup.
