R E L Binion, chair of the Armenian relief fund in the Oxford school precinct, announced at a Sunday Methodist church speech that the district has raised 70 20 in cash, surpassing its 50 quota and becoming the first and largest oversubscription in Grayson county campaign which began Monday.
City election in April brings W. T. Hamilton known as cross eyed Bill as candidate for city marshal. He distributes cards, seeks voter support, cites experience as a peace officer deputy, and past constable service. He asks for approval from Whitewright voters.
Voters in Fannin county road district No. 25 serving Ely and Orangeville approved a $40,000 good roads bond by 147 to 10. A separate Randolph roads district election passed a $30,000 tax to pay interest and fund bond retirement by 105 to 2.
Dr George Truett of Dallas spoke at a Whitewright Baptist church service drawing a full house and many turned away. He shared overseas service experiences, dangers of war, and his survival through a torpedoed ship, noting his Y M C A selection as a top overseas leader.
Teachers from rural schools near Whitewright are invited to attend a special school day on Saturday. Superintendent Durham will ask some to serve as judges in the various contests held that day.
Whitewright and Trenton basketball teams staged two contests here Monday afternoon. The first game ended in a draw, while the second game went to Trenton by a small margin.
A committee in Sherman reports progress on a permanent Grayson County Fair. Capital stock is 20000 dollars, funds to build exhibit buildings on the old settlers grounds and cover expenses. Shares are 50 dollars for county citizens. A director board with one member per banking district will select officers and an executive committee to run the fair. Directors meet in Sherman on February 20 to finalize the organization.
A 1919 Sunday program features a long service with a drill on key verses and Bible readings. Miss Macke Montgomery leads scripture Isaiah 2 8 5, followed by Miss Olive Monk and others delivering prayers, talks on mission work, Burma, and America.
The Grayson County Commissioners Court will allocate funds to build cattle dipping vats in tick infested areas. The county provides materials and dipping fluid while users erect and maintain the vats. Officials say the county is 90 percent tick free and aim to eliminate the remaining ten percent.

The Sun retracted its report that Frank Benton drove a car hitting a child. Benton says he was driving his mail gig and the child ran into the wheel during a rainstorm.
Dr Wharton and Rev Walsh of Sherman described the Armenian Syrian Persian relief program to raise 30000000 this week. The effort is humanitarian not sectarian, appealing to Christianity to respond or default in its duty as distressed Armenians face starvation. A fair audience heard the explanation and locals voiced support.
The faculty and student body prepare for a special track and school day this Saturday inviting public attendance. Elimination contests occur in the forenoon while athletic events and declamation take place in the afternoon.
