Clifford Powell says 100 hot check charges were filed in January with 31 convictions. He expects about 100 more cases monthly for two to three months. Most cases involve multiple offenders and restitution totaled about 13 000, with 10 000 paid before charges filed.

Pilot Grove Landmark: Old Methodist Church and Feud History
Pilot Grove in Whitewright hosts historic marker beside the old Methodist Church. The town once known as Lick Skillet was renamed in 1858 and gained prominence as the Lee Peacock feud raged 1865 to 1871, ending with Lee and later Peacock's supporters. The marker, placed in 1966 by the Texas Historical Survey Committee, chronicles early settlement and the feud.
