Forest Monarch Felled Near Here by Two Men
Elmo and Ralph Wallace felled a burr oak of unusual size four miles southwest of town while clearing bottom land. Base circumference 21 feet, 18 feet two feet up, 15 feet at 35 feet. Farmer Dies After Being Hit by Auto

Birchfield, 47, a farmer and Baptist minister who recently moved from Arkansas to the Ely community, was fatally struck by an automobile driven by his nephew Albert Patridge near Marvin Church four miles east of town. He died at Sherman Sanitarium after the Sunday accident in which he was crushed on the chest and had multiple fractures. Survived by wife Mary Birchfield and nine children, funeral held at Oak Hill Cemetery with Revs. Fleming and McNeilly assisting.

Profitable Hog Year for J. R. Oliver
J R Oliver of Whitewright a Duroc Jerseys breeder told Grayson County Live Stock Association in Sherman that last year was his most profitable in hogs.
