Rotaryanns Guests At Annual Banquet
The White Wright Rotary Club held its annual banquet in the First Baptist Church basement on Thursday evening. The Fidelis Class served a turkey dinner and decorations included holly and evergreens. The event honored Rotaryanns with the largest new member list since 1925, as husbands of members were introduced by chairman Cr B Bryant Jr. Guests included R A Gillett Roby Childress Joe T May and several others. Rev R L Gilpin delivered the after dinner talk with sleight of hand tricks. The banquet was praised as one of the club’s best, despite a rain delay that briefly shifted plans to Wilson's Cafe before the church venue was confirmed.

Burning a tobacco can costs man two bills
W C Wilson of East Whitewright lost a $100 and a $50 bill when his wife hid the money in a tobacco can under a rug. A daughter swept the can from under the rug and burned the ashes in a fire. The bank will forward the ashes to the Treasury in Washington in hopes of recovery. The cotton boll weevil is preyed upon by 66 bird enemies.

Many Farmers Lose Meat After Cold Spell

Ex-Service Men Football Game Here Next Tuesday
The American Legion Post of Bells and the VFW and American Legion Posts of Whitewright meet on the local field at 2 p m next Tuesday to decide the championship between the teams. Gate receipts go to both organizations for worthy causes and the clash follows a 6 to 6 Thanksgiving tie. The winner will be decided before the 4 30 p m ceremony when a new Four Door Ford automobile is given away by the Whitewright American Legion Post.

Eight Die When Car and Bus Collide Near Eugene
Eight persons crowded in a single car were killed and seven bus passengers injured in a head on collision near Eugene Oregon late Saturday night. Seven of the eight in the car died instantly and one woman died later in hospital. The bus driver suffered a broken jaw and six others were slightly injured as the impact forced the bus off the highway.
