Supt. S. T. Montgomery states an open house at the new High School will be Sunday Jan 2 from 2:00 to 4:00 p m. The public is invited to attend. Santa Claus has visited via Thomas Sears and a note of local pride follows about nearby district finances and debt absence.
Robert Achzehner, regional director for Motorola Communications and Electronics, told a Lions Club in El Paso that unidentified flying objects may be linked to the recent New York area power outage. He cited a Brazil blackout last year after disc shaped objects were seen near high tension lines.
Col. Homer Garrison, director of the Texas Department of Public Safety, forecasts about 110 traffic fatalities and 45 homicides during the 10 day Christmas to New Year period, plus 42 other accidental deaths. The total violent death toll could reach 195 if accurate.

Funeral services for Mrs Clyde P Johnson 82 were held at Earnheart chapel with Rev C C Dooley officiating. Burial followed in Oak Hill Cemetery. She died at Sherman hospital and is survived by her husband a daughter three sisters a grandson and two granddaughters. She was born Sept 29 1883 in Ferris and married Dr C P Johnson Oct 29 1903. She belonged to Central Christian Church.
Funeral services were held in Dallas for Henry Grady Stepp 47 who died Monday after a heart attack. He was born June 9 1918 in Whitewright son of Grady and wife survived by a divorced wife a daughter Barbara Johnston a brother Guy Stepp of Whitewright and a grandson He worked at the Ford plant and was a Baptist member.
News of the Nov 21 death of Mrs. Jessie Rathbun Nash in Glendale California was received this week. Daughter of the late O Y Rathbun she was Whitewrights first child born after the town was established in 1878. She is survived by a sister.
Roy E. Biggerstaff, 71, died Saturday in a Fort Worth hospital. Funeral services were held at Tom Bean and burial followed in Akers Cemetery. Born June 30, 1894 in Tom Bean, he married May Swindle in 1919. Surviving are a daughter, a son, three brothers, four sisters, five grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
In 1628 Dr. William Harvey proposed the circulation of blood and many physicians rejected the idea. John Aubrey noted Harvey feared mockery and ridicule from the public before his theory was finally embraced as correct.
The Christmas lighting will be judged by out of town persons on Tuesday night December 21. Bethel Baptist Church hosts Training Union at 6:30 followed by a worship service at 7:30. Church activities focus on fellowship and spiritual instruction for members and visitors.

The Mary Dale Circle met at 1 30 Monday at Mrs Ronald Pierce s home for Bible study on Types of Prayer led by Mrs M W Williams with participants Mrs Manuel Alexander and Mrs Louis Franklin. Mrs Pierce presided over the business session naming a new circle chairman and reporting the society doubled its Lottie Moon Christmas offering goal with the drive continuing this month.

Austin Homer Garrison, director of state police, urged motorists to reduce holiday traffic deaths during the Christmas New Year period. He predicted 110 deaths in 10 days versus 128 the year before and said every highway patrolman plus 150 extra officers will be on duty to enforce traffic laws.
