Sherman Bearcats ruled ineligible for state final race
Sherman is out of the state interscholastic league football championship after an Austin committee rejected new affidavits and accepted census records showing Ed Caraway as 21. Sherman representatives had sought a rehearing citing family Bible and affidavits asserting Caraway was born January 1, 1905 and only 20. The committee stood firm despite witnesses from Sherman and community ties.
