Cut in Cotton Crop to Give Millions to Texas Growers

Texas cotton producers stand to gain at least 50 million dollars under the 1934-35 cotton acreage reduction program announced by the Agricultural Adjustment Administration. The plan calls for reducing next season's plantings to 25 million acres from a normal 40 million, with a 125 million dollars cost funded by a processing tax on domestic mills. The arrangement includes rental and parity payments to farmers, with specifics on who may sign the contract and how payments are allocated among landowners, tenants, and managing share tenants. The program anticipates a reduced national crop to about 8-10 million bales next year and outlines methods for enforcing acreage reductions and administering payments through county production control associations.
