Open House for Golden Wedding in Bells
Mr. and Mrs. Claude Reynolds celebrate they will host an open house at their Bells home Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. in honor of their golden wedding anniversary. Married December 6, 1908, in Pink Hill, the couple has seven daughters two sons 24 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Both are longtime Grayson County residents and members of the First Baptist Church.

Farm Prices Off Costs Set Record in November
Washington reports farmers’ prices for crops and livestock fell four tenths of one percent in the month ended November 15 while the cost of production and living supplies rose one third of one percent to a new all time high. Mid November prices received averaged 81 percent of parity, lowest of the year, with decreases led by oranges hogs cotton corn and tobacco and gains in some vegetables and dairy. The index shows prices paid by farmers at 308 percent of the base, up from the prior month, driven by new auto prices. hog and beef prices are detailed for the month.

Mrs W H Phillips 90 a pioneer Whitewright resident died Sunday at her home. Funeral services were held Monday at Barnhart chapel with Revs C C Dooley and Fred Waldrop. burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. She was born February 14 1868 in Kentucky and moved to the area in 1887. She married W H Phillips in 1889 and lived on the family farm. Six children were born, two survive plus a half sister, eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Denison Man Grover Spencer 72 Dies in Wichita Falls
Funeral services were held in Denison Saturday for Grover Spencer 72 who died Thursday in Wichita Falls. Burial was at City Cemetery. Born in Denison April 12 1886 he married Maud Thompson Dec 27 1909. A Remington Arms field representative he was a professional trap shooter state champion and on the 1925 Olympic Trap team. Survivors include son Edwin Spencer of Dallas daughter Mrs Burris Hughes of Wichita Falls and two grandchildren. He was brother in law of Claude Thompson of Wright.

The State Board of Insurance cut Whitewright’s fire insurance key rate from 37 to 35 cents effective immediately. The 2-cent drop reflects the town’s new fire truck purchase. 1957 fire losses reached 27 862 dollars on net premiums 20 769. 1958 good fire record credit fell to 15 percent from 20 percent. Over five years through 1957, losses 48 709 on net premiums 72 794. Charges totaling 40 cents included deficiencies in water works and mains, water pumping power, volunteer department, fire apparatus, alarm system, building laws, and conflagration hazards. five-cent credit granted for booster trucks, night watch, prevention, schools, and arson reward.
