Irene Proctor retires after 27 years as a Bells Mississippi postal clerk. She began June 25 1945 and ended June 25 1972 a date tied to her late father David Proctor a rural mail carrier. Proctor lived on Gentry Street and worked in three buildings during her tenure.

Ten members of the Whitewright High School Class of 1939 gathered at Firemen's Hall on Saturday for their second reunion since graduation 33 years ago. Families attended, a buffet dinner was served, and a brief program included memory jogger of 1939. The group planned to meet again in 1976.

About 34 members attended the Bells Booster Club organizational meeting. Buddy Price was elected president with Mrs. Waller as vice president and Mrs. Troyce Walt as Ways and Means Chair. Committee members include Jim Budd, Bill Robbins, and Winston Bolton. Refreshment committee features coaching staff and others. Troyce Walt to run concession for Jr high games. Weekly meetings set for Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m. at the school.
