Doctor McDaniel Dies After Illness in Quanah
Dr. R. R. McDaniel, son-in-law of Mrs. F. M. Echols of Denton and husband of Cora Lee Echols, died after a two week illness in Quanah. He was founder and chief surgeon of Quanah Memorial Hospital and practiced medicine there since World War I after serving in the British Medical Corps. Funeral services were held in Quanah with burial in Fort Worth.

The facility will open for business September 10 under Ed die Ray Anderson whose wife works at the Whitewright Medical and Surgical Clinic. Dr Paul E Geers owner says two car loads of furniture are en route between here and New York and should arrive in time for the open house. Geers, who came to Whitewright from a El Paso hospital in 1955, built the clinic on West Main Street three years later. The 178000 dollar project features year round air conditioning and aims to care for 80 patients both ambulatory and bedridden. Built by North Texas Construction Co of Sherman with air conditioning by Lone Star Gas Co.
