Whitewright Boy Killed In Action In France
Mr and Mrs Joe Dobson of this area received word from the War Department that their son Private Elmer E Dobson of Company A 39th Infantry was killed in action with the American Expeditionary Forces between August 1 and 7 He was twenty two and eight months old and had been in France since May 19 moving to the firing line July 16 He was among the first selective service men from the area and the first Whitewright boy to die in battle His family and the community express pride and sympathy noting his sacrifice for democracy and justice.
