The season's first bale of cotton was brought in by Clyde Robinson who also delivered last year's first bale. W C Reid arrived with the second bale between Bells and Sherman. Donigan Gin Co. prepared to gin both bales as of noon. Robinson has provided the first bale for Whitewright in multiple years including 1947 1949 1950 1953 and 1954.

For the three months to July 1 the rate equates to 365 billion dollars annually, matching the first quarter of the year. Deaths Sam D. Fulton 81 well known area farmer
Sam D. Fulton 81 a longtime area farmer died of a heart attack at his home two miles north of town Saturday night. He had battled heart trouble for over a decade but remained active. Funeral services were at Barnhart Chapel Monday at 5 p.m. with Rev. W. W. Alverson and Rev. Lee H. Smith officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery at Bells. He was born August 24, 1872 in Conway Mississippi and came to Texas with his parents in 1883, settling between Bells and Whitewright. He married Mae Knight in 1902 in Waco and worked briefly in Sherman before farming the last 50 years. Survivors include his wife, two sons Duncan Fulton of El Paso and Edwin Fulton of Whitewright, one brother Irving M. Fulton of Sherman, two sisters Annie Mae Gates and Kate Fulton of Sherman, and one grandson. Pallbearers were Joe Kimbrough, Frank Knight, John Reeves, John Williams, John J. Jenkins and A. V. Gates.

Mrs. Lela Jones Meador Dies in Denison Hospital
Funeral services were held in Denison for Mrs. Lela Jones Meador wife of Grover E. Meador. She died in a Denison hospital Thursday and was a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Warner Jones who ran a Whitewright hotel until the 1911 fire. She had lived in Denison for more than years.

She died of a stroke on Aug 11 born 1862 in Orange County Indiana.
