J D Badgett aged 77 died at his Whitewright home Wednesday afternoon after paralysis stricken five weeks earlier. Born October 11 1846 in Oxford NC he served in Co G 30th NC Regiment and fought in the Civil War. Survived by wife six children two siblings and a host of friends. Funeral at his residence conducted by Rev J L Truett assisted by Rev G M McNeilly and Rev J F Fender with interment at City Cemetery.

Jim A Hall Dies From Grade Crossing Injuries
Jim A Hall 39 a lifelong Luella resident died at 6 am in Sherman from injuries after his car collided with a Cotton Belt motor car at a Luella grade crossing. He suffered a basal skull fracture a broken right collarbone and multiple bruises. He never regained consciousness after the Thursday accident.

Sherman, Aug 13. Evidence that the Ku Klux Klan is active in Sherman surfaced after several dozen couples were stopped by six white robed klansmen in cars parked on roadways and by-paths. The drivers were questioned about trouble or help and sped away. One car was forced to run in low gear to town after its gears were stripped. The klansmen conducted a seven mile radius sweep, stopping many couples along rural roads.
