The Whitewright Community League will hold its first regular meeting next Tuesday at 8 p.m. in the I. C. O. F. hall. Reports from committees will be considered, new committees named by the president, and all interested citizens of Whitewright and nearby areas are invited to attend.
The Department of Commerce places the 1934 average American income at 388 dollars, up 35 from 1933. Total national income reached 49.44 billion, with per capita income 388 dollars and wage and salary payments rising to 33.1 billion.
The El Paso Times cites a sale of A. B. Fall’s Three Rivers New Mexico ranch to the Palomas Land and Cattle Company. Fall and his family, tenants at will, are said to be notified to vacate if the sale proceeds. R. M. Sands of Petroleum Securities Co says a sale deal is pending and Fall seeks a personal meeting with E. L. Doheny to settle affairs. The ranch was foreclosed from Doheny for about 250000 dollars several years ago.
The Fannin County third Sunday singing convention will meet at Randolph Baptist Church eight miles east of Whitewright this Sunday at 2 p m announced by W C Brown of the Enterprise community The note also comments on unemployment insurance as a possible comfort against having to work referencing a Boston Transcript remark.

Governor James V. Allred will deliver the major address at the Dallas state American Legion convention on Tuesday morning September 3 at the Baker Hotel. A joint open session of the legion and its auxiliary is set for Sunday afternoon September 1 at Fair Park auditorium.
J. E. McDonald, State Commissioner of Agriculture, was exonerated by a House investigating committee on charges of official misconduct. The panel voted three to one in favor of exoneration, with one member not voting.
Grayson County Commissioners designate Highway 14 from Gunterworth as the counties No 1 lateral road project after a Dallas visit by Highway Department officials. State engineer Gibb Gilchrist says a 3 5 million dollar fund could finance its construction if the county lists it first.
J. R. Crabtree Greenville district relief auditor reviewed Grayson County relief books in Sherman as reorganizaton shifts relief administration to Greenville. The county office will still dispense relief while works division and social service department stay.
Washington. The Senate rejected a Republican move to defer all tax legislation until next session by 55 to 19. The defeat was hailed by administration leaders as ensuring enactment of Roosevelt's tax bill before adjournment. Finance Chairman Pat Harrison predicted passage by Friday night and next week’s adjournment.
The Bonham cotton mills will reopen today after eight weeks idle due to a walkout. Some workers left for other mills. many will return to fill former jobs. Management agrees to an eight hour shift with pay cuts. About 150 people are employed. workers from other towns sent food in support.

Texas cotton growers and government attorneys reached a court ordered agreement to resolve the Bankhead cotton control act dispute. Federal Judge Kennerly appointed a five member commission led by Dan Moody to find a solution while preserving tax collection rights and bale tag procedures.
A Texas prison tunnel thirty yards long was uncovered by Warden W. W. Ward before completion. Convicts spent weeks digging, hauling dirt to disguise the entrance among cordwood stacks near the yard. The plan aimed to release up to 1,000 inmates at Huntsville.
Tuesday's rainfall in Whitewright measured .61 inch with .27 before 8 a.m. and .24 after. Rain was general in the region. Sherman and Denison had over two inches, Greenville under an inch. Circulation of the Daily Racing Form was prohibited. Local officers and business leaders are urged to help shut down bookies, with fines cited as evidence of their drain on communities.
President Roosevelt signed the social security law promising an economic structure with unemployment compensation old age pensions and child protection. The plan includes federal grants to states for pensions 49.75 million for 1986 and eventual contributory pensions from 1942 with 3 percent payroll tax on salaries up to 3000. Also notes alcohol use as motor fuel in Germany.
President Roosevelt canceled the National Boy Scout Jamboree set to open in Washington on August 21 due to infantile paralysis concerns. Twenty one council youths from Denison Durant Bells Whitewright and Bonham plus three adult leaders had prepared to depart August 16.
