Deaths and Rites for McClure and Bow Across Two States
Graveside rites were held for Mrs. Mary Truett McClure in Oak Hill Cemetery Whitewright after a San Angelo hospital death on August 4 1967. Funeral services were in San Angelo the day before. she was daughter of early Whitewright settlers and niece of Dr. George W. Truett. Survivors include two daughters a son a brother and many grandchildren. Separately Mrs Bow died while vacationing in La Jara Colorado and funeral services were held in Alpine with Eastern Star rites at Elm Grove Cemetery. Survivors list her husband three sons two sisters two brothers and several grandchildren and step-grandchildren.

Cordie Nathaniel Massey 78 former Katy depot agent in Whitewright died at 1 a m Tuesday in a Denison hospital after a month long illness. He was employed with the Katy at Henietta. Funeral arrangements were pending.

The Bonham two story brick building on the square lost about ten feet of its front early Tuesday. The Joe Walker Furniture and Tile Co. occupied the space and had moved wares out over the weekend. A 52 hour overland relay from Virginia City Nevada to Oakland California tested a clear plastic bag's ability to keep a peanut butter and jelly sandwich fresh. Three riders and seven ponies carried the bag sealed at the start by a Notary Public, completing the trip June 5 to June 7. A San Francisco editor ate the sandwich at the end, calling it fresh and delicious.
