In London a 4800 ton British freighter named Empire Fal carrying 30000 American bombs was sunk in the Atlantic after unloading halted due to danger. A three to four foot fall triggered an explosion. no one died. Crew abandoned ship, rescued by a destroyer, as time fuzes detonated at depth. It marked a wartime sacrifice of ship and cargo.
