In the July 28 primary for Grayson and Collin Counties 6 874 votes were cast for Charles A Barker of Sherman who died about four weeks before the election. Barker received 5 803 votes in Grayson and 1 071 in Collin. Opponent M E O Neill of Frisco totaled 8 220 votes with 2 879 in Grayson and 5 341 in Collin, giving O Neill a majority of 1 846. Sherman Democrat.

Alvin S Moody Moore paid a $10 fine in Houston County Court on a charge of simple assault against Alvin S Moody anti Smith leader. Cotton by air for Democratic campaign fund
The first bale of 1928 Georgia cotton was bundled into a plane in Atlanta bound for New York to be auctioned by John J. Raskob for the Democratic campaign fund. T. W. Tift bought the 430 pound bale at 42 cents a pound and said it would be a gift to the Democratic National Committee. The bale was flown by Douglas Davis who expected to reach New York before noon the next day.
