Captain Bean Dead in Howe After Stroke
Capt. Wm. H. Bean, early Texas settler and former banker, died suddenly at his Howe home from a paralysis stroke last Saturday. He was born in 183 in Tuscumbia Alabama and came to Texas in 1853, building mills and later serving as president of Farmers National Bank of Howe. He supported public enterprises, schools, and churches. The funeral at Hall Cemetery drew hundreds, including more than fifty from Sherman.
