Whitewright Votes 359 in Primary Falloff Cites Poll Tax Ruling
Whitewright voters cast 359 ballots in Saturday's primary, 63 fewer than 1938. The drop is blamed on the Supreme Court city poll tax ruling and lack of contested local races. Governor O Daniel led with 148 votes, Ernest O Thompson had 167, and Sam Rayburn led in Congress race with 319.
