A hailstorm starting around 12 30 Monday night for about twenty minutes caused extensive property damage in Whitewright. Roofs on Kirkpatrick Pharmacy and on a Patterson Dossey residence required replacement. windows at the high school and Sun office shattered. crops including cotton and corn were ruined. gardens and fruit trees suffered heavy loss. insurance coverage was common.

Dallas Man Killed Near Bonham in Suspected Robbery
Theddie Branch 27 of Dallas was found shot to death near Bonham Monday in an apparent robbery. A watch and Branch’s looted pockets were missing, and two bullet holes were found in the back of his head. An automobile borrowed in Dallas and later found near the body was tied to the crime. Two strangers seen entering nearby woods were described as short stocky and tall slender. Funeral services were set for Tuesday at Wylie. Branch had no known enemies, officers suspect a hitchhiker he picked up on the Dallas Bonham highway.
