A series of social visits fill the week as locals travel to Dallas, Sherman, Commerce, Vernon, Lubbock and Iowa Park. Notables include Mrs. D. S. Carr, Mrs. H. T. Atterberry, Mrs. W. L. Mangrum, Miss Una Mae, Mrs. Pascal Binion, and families visiting kin across towns.
Sunday visits span Lone Oak, Sherman, Purcell and Dallas as residents travel to see families. Local repurchases note embalmment course in Dallas, jury duty in Sherman, and district church conference in Leonard. Martha Allison wins top spelling honors at Graham meet.
Whitewright residents Rev. and Mrs. W H Ackley Rev J L Truett Rev O H Garner and Mrs Carl May joined the Grayson County Baptist Workers Conference monthly meeting in Sherman on Tuesday. S H Jared, hospitalized in Sherman, is reported to be recovering well after a shelving accident at Cole and Davis Company store broke his leg in two places last week.
Joe McKinsey formerly of Whitewright was elected to the Sherman city council on Tuesday. He lived in Whitewright for years before moving to Sherman and is receiving congratulations from many friends in his former hometown.
Mr and Mrs Walter Keeling of Lubbock County visit relatives this week and report good prospects for a bumper Panhandle crop. He notes ample rainfall and farmers ahead with field work.
J C Hestand of Sherman visited his nephew Ott Lackey here Thursday and stopped at The Sun office to share views on Grayson County politics. He is a candidate for county commissioner in precinct one.
Mrs. H T Atterberry hosted a four tables of forty two event honoring aunt Mary Hestand of Slaton with high score and guest prizes. A church play On the Road to the City directed by Mrs Homer Sears drew many viewers and will fund church uses. Neighbors rallied to help Ed Nicely shore up farm work after his wife’s illness with a nine man effort, and he expresses thanks publicly in The Sun.
Announcement of the marriage between Wm Welch son of Mrs Mollie Welch of Tom Bean and Miss Louise Sears daughter of Mr and Mrs Bascom Sears of Centerville formerly Whitewright. They wed in Texarkana on November 28 at Rev Johnsons home and plan to reside in Tom Bean.
