650 Vehicle Tags Bought Locally
Harold Doss, deputy tax collector for automobile licenses, said this morning he issued 650 sets of license plates up to the time his supply was exhausted Wednesday afternoon. Of this total, 499 were for automobiles, 70 for commercial motor vehicles, and 81 for farm trucks. This total exceeded last year's by about 150. People waiting to buy plates locally were disappointed but could still obtain them at the tax office in Sherman today. After today it will be illegal to operate a motor vehicle with last year's plates.

John H. Perry died at 67 from a heart attack in Sherman. He organized the Grayson County State Bank in 1936 and grew it into a leading Texas state bank. Funeral at Travis Street Methodist Church in Sherman followed by burial at Oak Hill Cemetery. He married Enna Montgomery in 1916 and is survived by his wife, a son Dr. John Perry of Wichita Falls, a sister, two brothers, and two granddaughters.
