Washington May 23 Mr Howard author of If Christ Came to Congress offered a formal impeachment resolution accusing President Grover Cleveland of high crimes and misdemeanors. Parkersburg May 23 The Republicans of Wood county held their convention to pick delegates to the Senatorial Congressional and Judicial conventions. Two committees will meet June 6 to select delegates to the State convention. Congressional delegates named include Geo Beorn Dr Hatfield L F Stone H N Crooks J M Echols J T McMechen and many others. Also chosen were delegates to the judicial convention.
In Cleveland the Methodist Episcopal General Conference adjourned after approving missions to India, South America, and Africa. Debate centered on South America, with Dr Kynett leading the pro report. A Missionary Bishop election was set for 5:50 am Monday, following today's discussion.
The advance guard of 1,286 delegates who will compose the national Prohibition convention arrives in Pittsburgh on May 28. Maryland delegates including Joshua Levering are lodged there as preparations continue for the Wednesday sessions, with the scene set for the event.
Emma Jones was discharged while Mera Wilson was held on $200 bond for appearance at next term after a trial before Squire Fitzpatrick. Wilson and Jones, living on Nineteenth Street, were charged with possessing obscene pictures intended for sale. The trunk was attached after Mrs. Piper, the cook, confronted them about plans to leave town. A search found the pictures in the trunk.
Public notices announce a major outdoor musical spectacle titled The Battles of Our Nation coming to Mozart Park in June. The production features nearly 20 cast members, the Contemp’s band of New York with fifty employed musicians, a troupe of epiratic artists, heavy scenery and effects, and periodic fireworks. Local choirs will join the performances, marking a premier event in Wheeling’s entertainment history.

A $200,000 damages suit was filed in Parkersburg Circuit Court by Robert W. Brown of Washington PA against R. P. Ingraham of Waverly for leases on 900 acres where Brown drilled two wells and claims he was ordered off the lease while Ingraham subleased parts to Barnsdall Gillespie and others with producing wells.

Benwood Democrats chose delegates to the District State and Local Conventions in a meeting at Benwood. Delegates to District Convention included Mahood Garvey Quinn Chapman and Dorsey. to State Convention Mahood Barrett Goecke Dolbear and Garvey. alternates Dalley Blake Healy Mahood Quinn.
The West Liberty W C T U stage Demorest medal contest in Academy hall with large audience. Judges Prof B Brown Prof Basel and Dr J M King awarded top honors to Miss Freide Epstein. other contestants received Hawthorne volumes.
The Howell and Arrivals Registered for Yesterday noted a large guest list with names and towns across the region. Guests hailed from Oakdale Grafton Mannington Parkersburg Newark Pittsburgh Youngstown and many others. The Twicek fin on the Pan-Handle indicates travel activity through the area.
The Republican County Executive Committee met last evening and reelected Mr. Hall as chairman. Officers named include Joh W Kinderberger as secretary. They fixed the primaries and discussed delegates for Congressional and Brale Con ventions with plans for a July 1st primary. Local activity noted in Proctor and nearby towns with several residents visiting and moving about Wheeling and Graysville.
London society thronged drawing rooms at Marlborough House as the Duchess of Marlborough drew crowds with a display of diamonds pearls and gowns. The Duke wore a yeomanry uniform while the queen’s birthday parade faced a brief royal dispute over precedence between Lord Wolseley and the Duke of Cambridge resolved by the Prince of Wales.
