Wheeling's Industrial Boom Marred by Heat and Labor Shifts

Large Wheeling factories report full operation in many departments with bustling activity at Wheeling Corrugating Company, Crystal Glass Works, Warwood Tool, and local foundries. Notable gains include new machinery at the Muncie operations, expanded shipments from Jos Bell Stave, and major plant improvements at several steel and glass works. Heat hampers some crews and a few layoffs or shifts occur as plants prepare summer downtimes and relining at blast furnaces.
