The Mummers and the Evangeline Song Mystery
A long fragment recounts a college song piracy tale tied to Evangeline and Home Sweet Home. It covers John Payne the songwriter, the legal wrangles over copyright, a Boston publisher, and a troubled author who never earned from his popular melody. It also muses on mummies and preservation in a humorous essay tone.
