Portsuvro Pa December 8 An accident in the Bessemer mill of the Carnegie Steel Company severely injures six men during a molten metal cast. Two workers escaped. six were burned with two facing likely death from extensive injuries. Names indicate serious burns and casualties among workers in the foundry.
In Judge Valliany s court Mrs Opel testifies on eight years of alleged mistreatment while detailing visits by Frank B Brown to the Opel home during Mr Opel s absences. New York December 1 The tenement house commission resumed hearings with Colonel Cruger on the Trinity church corporation lease. He testified the ground rent properties were in good condition and that the corporation spends about 150 000 dollars for new buildings and repairs while earning roughly 500 000 dollars annually, half for church and chapel maintenance and charity. Edwin R A Seligman urged lower city water rates for poorer districts and higher charges for wealthier areas, arguing water should be as cheap as air and that the city profits from water should be eliminated or minimized.
