Six Die in Indiana Traction Wreck Near Tipton
Six people were killed and 12 injured when a northbound passenger train and a southbound freight collided on an Indiana Union Traction line two miles north of Tipton. The wreck followed a missed order at a station on a sharp curve. Motorman Dan Lacy and others escaped by jumping. The dead include Joseph Baker, W C Holthouser, and Verdel Railsback among others. a wedding was planned for Miss Nellie Coxon of Kokomo.

Heavy rainfall turned a dry arroyo two miles east of Clayton Kansas into a seething torrent. A Rock Island fast train from Kansas City to Denver plunged into 20 feet of water after an open bridge gave way killing sixteen and injuring eleven. Locomotive and cars disappeared. the smoker car telescoped. Engineer fireman and conductor perished. Passengers aided by lantern light, relief trains dispatched from Belleville and Phillipsburg, Clayton residents rushed to assist. Nine dead identified. seven remain unidentified.

Negroes Engage In Shooting Affray between Eaton and Rev. P H Lewis pastor of A M E church in Portland. Eaton sustained probably fatal injuries while the minister was seriously hurt.
