The GOP gathers in the county convention to nominate candidates and outline platform directions. Party leaders and delegates convene to endorse slate and set likely campaign priorities for the upcoming election cycle.
The LaPorte county Democratic convention endorsed a full slate including Prosecutor J Hickey of Laporte, Representative Dr R B Short of Union Mills, Clerk Van Broueen of Siehizan City, Treasurer Ed Hie Anderson of Scipio, Sheriff P O Small of Clinton, Coroner Dr WEW Meyer of Laporte, Assessor W Fuller of Rolling Prairie, and Commissioner John Wosniak of Otis. The gathering, orderly and harmonious, narrowed ballots to final winners and pledged support for the ticket while noting strong cross party attendance and decisive initial votes for sheriff and assessor.
A Saturday gathering at Ephriam Jardine Sr.'s west of town celebrated his seventy eighth birthday. Relatives from Northwood Chicago and Whiting joined forty one attendees for meals games and a birthday cake bearing Grandpa 78 prepared by Dora Greening.
