James Ellis a seven year old farmer four miles southeast of Hillsboro was fatally injured by an enraged sow in a hog lot. At a joint Lutheran synod session it was decided to discontinue the Columbus Theological Magazine and merge it with the Lutheran Standard under one cover. The clerical list of Lutheran ministers in America will also be discontinued. An attempt to merge the Sunday school papers Little Missionary and Child's Paper failed. The two papers together circulate about 15,000.

Lafayette Hanson a 22 year old switchman for Lake Erie and Western Railroad was killed in Lake Erie yards Walnut street. He rode a Big Four switch engine and jumped in front of an east bound local on a nearby track. The pilot struck him and he became wedged under the engine requiring jacking to remove the body.
