Corporal M. P. Nolan of the battleship Iowa fired ten shots in 54 seconds from a six pounder at Cape Cruz Cuba. He hit six times at 1 600 yards as the ship rode a rough sea at ten knots. Nolan, son of Dr and Mrs C N Nolan of this city, enlisted Oct 9 1905 after turning 18 and has served 18 months in the marine corps.
