Train Robbery by Masked Bandits Near Coffeyville

Six masked bandits halted passenger train No 104 on the St Louis Iron Mountain line twelve miles south of Coffeyville Kansas for an hour and forty five minutes. They robbed the express car of valuables estimated around 20000 while passengers were terrified by rifle fire and incendiary blasts. No passengers were robbed as robbers moved to the mail baggage and express cars and forced clerks to lie beside the track. The engine crew were forced from the cab and the robbers disappeared after taking money and valuables.
