A stranger, calling at Mrs. Burns home, reveals a six year old burglary and returns £25 to John Simonson of Knightsville. He claims to have stolen about £300 in all, reformed, and retraces his crimes by locating Simonson and repaying the amount with interest. The man refuses to give his name.
Willman died after about a month of illness in Traftford City. The city had sued him and his bondsmen for accounting errors claiming he was short 1 732.51 as treasurer. The ex-officer’s accountants argued the city owed him over 1 000. His death does not halt the suit. the city will pursue action against his bondsmen and estate.
Since the leap year began thirty divorce suits have been filed in Delaware County with exactly half by husbands, an unusual shift from the normal pattern. County Clerk Harve Leffler notes that leap year prompts more proposals by women, so men file more requests for divorce.
Louis Lauby a court house janitor used a passport issued on leaving Switzerland and photos of his mother and brother to prove he is the rightful heir to a $30,000 estate left by his brother who died in Switzerland eight months earlier. Portland Cleo Clayton Bell, a dangerously insane man from Red Key, was placed under the sheriff's care by court order after commissioners refused to compensate the sheriff. The sheriff will receive payment under court orders as the hospital authorities assess admission.
A one year old, heir of Mr and Mrs George A Riley, died after a fall as Swedish nurse Hilda Magnusson aged 21 clung to the child. The nurse suffered severe bruising but survived. The incident occurred at the Riley residence in Goshen.
In Columbus a mother awoke to find her two month old son Donald dead beside her after she had overslept. The baby lay cold in death while Neal, her 114 months old son, laughed nearby. No further details given.
