Drum Bravery Leads Wounded Drum To Marine Camp
In Verdun battles a drum was shot through the head and repaired. It later served at the front again. After the war it was ordered back to Quantico Virginia. The regiment attached four service stripes to one side of its head and one wound stripe to the opposite side, since a drum has no sleeves to wear them.
